General Statement of Duties Under the guidance of the Exceptional Education teacher, provides instructional or behavioral support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing to optimize their learning in the least restrictive environment.
Essential Duties Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher the Instructional Assistant:
Provides one on one instruction or tutoring with students Assists with classroom management and behavior modification Assists with field trips, community-based instruction, and other activities Assists students with personal care tasks, including but not limited to, hygiene, diapering, toileting and wash-up routines Assists students with mobility needs such as, lifting and positioning students, lifting in and out of wheelchairs; and loading and unloading the bus and operates adaptive equipment Collects data on student performance and progress Assists with creation, organization, and distribution of instructional materials Reports student concerns directly and promptly to the teacher and assists with student resolution Assist with implementation of behavior management plans Assists with breakfast, lunch and snack, including clean-up Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications General knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in special education classrooms; ability to maintain records and confidentiality; ability to operate audio visual, standard office and computer equipment; ability to operate adaptive equipment; and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, parents, students and administrators.
Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
A minimum of 60 semester hours from an accredited college or university or successfully passed the ParaPro Assessment preferred.

Additionally, Paraprofessional autism certification is required or must be completed within 60-days of hire.

29 per hour is based on a 204 day assignment, working 7.
25 hours per day.
The annual salary will be prorated based upon the actual work begin date.
