One of the Richmond area's leading employers is looking to hire an experienced technical accounting professional. This is a high profile role reports to the Director of Accounting Policy and SEC reporting. The Manager of Accounting Policy will be primarily responsible for all technical accounting matters (GAAP, SEC regulations, etc.) which include, but are not limited to, the following topics: business combinations, derivatives, revenue recognition, etc. The selected candidate will also serve as a Project Manager for the implementation of new accounting standards impacting our business operations and presenting the conclusions to senior management. This role will also be responsible for analyzing transactions for accounting and disclosure requirements.
Additional responsibilities include:
Assess requirements of US GAAP authoritative literature and its applicability
Provide assistance with SEC reporting (including 8-Ks, 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 11-Ks and press releases) and management reporting
Research, interpret and apply authoritative accounting guidance for unusual transactions. Prepare memorandums to document appropriate accounting treatment for the transactions
Serve as a technical resource for accounting topics related to business combinations, derivatives, etc.
Work closely with newly acquired companies to conform accounting policies
Monitor new FASB pronouncements and facilitate the implementation of new guidance to include working closely with other departments impacted by the new guidance, documenting a position or policy and ensuring the guidance is implemented appropriately
Perform reviews of quarterly financial statements/schedules and related analysis
Coordinate with external auditors and seek to add value to the organization by meeting the department's goals
Qualifications:
Minimum 7 - 10 years in a public accounting or related experience required
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field required
CPA license required
Knowledge of and ability to navigate FASB codification and SEC rules and regulations required
Ability to work and function independently
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong attention to detail
Experience in the financial services industry is a plus
Experience with Lawson and Hyperion Essbase software is a plus
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
